2 Weeks Old

We've completed week number 2 of having 2 children, and we are finally settling into a routine that seems to work.  Although the routine is very dependent upon Sadie taking a good nap.  She decided not to nap on Friday at school and Friday evening was a disaster.

Anyway, we took Jackson back to the doctor on Friday for his 2 week check up and Dr. B said he looks perfect.  He gained back all his weight and even grew over an inch.  (official stats were 8 lbs, .2 oz & 21.25 inches long)

I was lucky enough to catch a few pictures of Jackson with his eyes open.  He looks like such a little man when he's awake.

He's alert more often now which is good and bad.

Good during the day so we can play together and bad at night when we're trying to sleep.

Sadie is still being a great big sister.  She likes to announce to everyone that she's a big sister now.  We went to Five Guys for cheeseburgers on Friday night, and she told anyone that would listen.  This afternoon while Jackson was napping, Sadie gave him her Baby doll to sleep with.  So sweet!

After Sadie woke up from her nap, we invited Emma and Gammaw over to swim.  Sadie got in first and lounged around on her pirate ship.

Little stinker

Emma wasn't a big fan of the water at first and only wanted to sit in her Mommy's lap, but she eventually warmed up.

I'm a little nervous about this week since Jason will be back at work full time.  That means I have to be "on duty" all day by myself.  Jason still plans to help me at night which will make a huge difference.  Please send calming thoughts my way, and I hope everyone else has a great week!

Sadie's Dance Recital

We had another busy weekend with Sadie's dance recital on Saturday.  I thought I was going to miss it since I was scheduled to have my c-section on Friday, but Jackson's early arrival meant that I could attend.

After school on Thursday, we decided it was time to welcome summer by getting in the pool.  Sadie was so excited and couldn't wait to put on her new swimsuit from Gammaw.  She loved the fact that she looked like a ballerina in it.

Even Jackson got into the fun.  We lounged in a chair while Jason and Sadie swam.  We figured a little sunlight might help with his slight case of jaundice.

You could not wipe the smile off Sadie's face once she got in the pool.

And I'm sure Jackson would have been
smiling if he knew how

Saturday was a very busy day.  The dress rehearsal for Sadie's recital was at 11:00.  She had to be there in her costume, with her hair and makeup done by 10:30.  Thankfully, Gammaw agreed to go with Jason, and I stayed home with this little cutie.  She watched Jackson that night, so I could go to the actual recital.  Thanks, Mom!  You're a lifesaver as usual!

Jason was just happy that I was around to help put Sadie's hair up in a bun and put on her makeup.  Doesn't she look like such a big girl?

Waiting in the audience.  Sadie kept asking when it was going to be her turn.  She wasn't nervous at all.

Once again, we have a video of her actual performance, but I'll have to wait for Jason to download it for me.  After she was finished, all the Dad's went onstage to give their daughter's flowers, and Sadie was so proud that her Daddy brought her flowers.

One last shot of the little guy taking an afternoon nap.  I cannot believe he's been here for a little over a week.  We love him so much, and it feels like he's always been part of our family.

Hope everybody has a Happy Memorial Day and a great week!

Jackson David Greer

Well.....our weekend didn't go quite as we planned.  This was supposed to be our last weekend before the baby came.  We had plans to do things as a family of 3 for the last time and finish up some last minute details.  However, Jackson had other plans.  I started feeling bad on Friday night but wasn't convinced I was actually having contractions.  By Saturday morning, I knew I was definitely having contractions about every 10 minutes.  Sadie had a music recital that I planned to attend, but I was in no shape to listen to her class sing songs for an hour.  Gammaw and Jason took Sadie and she was adorable.  We have several videos of her singing songs, but I don't know how to download them.  I'll add that to Jason's "to do" list.

Sadie sang the first line of "Do Re Mi" all by herself!  Such a cutie!

I called my doctor and told them about my contractions.  They told me if they continued, I needed to go to the hospital to be checked.  Around 2:00, we headed up to the hospital while Gammaw stayed with Sadie (who was napping).  I was dilated 3cm and contracting about every 4 or 5 minutes.  My blood pressure was slightly elevated, so they decided to proceed with my c-section.  Jason and I frantically made phone calls to tell our family what was going on.  About 30 minutes later, at 4:06 pm Jackson David Greer made his arrival.

He weighed 7 pounds & 15 ounces and was 20 inches long.

And absolutely the most handsome little
baby boy I've ever seen.

I have this same picture of Sadie from when
she was just a few days old, too.

We are so excited to welcome Jackson into our family.  Sadie has been a great big sister so far and is always offering to help with him.  A big thanks to Gammaw for watching her while we were in the hospital and making her feel special through this process.

We are slowly trying to figure out a routine for our new family of 4, but we are so thankful to have the opportunity to welcome this little blessing.

Happy Mother's Day!

This week was quite productive.  I was able to get a lot accomplished in the nursery and pick up the rest of the stuff I need from Babies R Us.  There are still a few last minute things I need to finish up, but  I feel much more prepared now.  I'll try to take some pictures of the nursery soon and post them.  Jason helped me hang the curtains and some pictures on Saturday, so it looks more complete.

Sadie only has 1 more ballet class before her big recital, so they let the parents in to take some pictures. It makes me really sad to think that I won't be able to attend Sadie's recital, but I know everyone will take lots of pictures and video for me.  Isn't she a doll?

We spent some time outside this morning because the weather was so nice.  Sadie loves running around in the backyard and keeps asking when she can go swimming.

Sadie's school helped each child make Mother's Day presents for their Mom's.  She made me this flower which has sayings about me in Sadie's words.  She talks about how I read her Christmas stories and eat donuts for dinner.  I'm not so sure about how correct her statements are, but its really cute.

She also made this hand print for me which says, "Please let this imprint of my hand serve as a reminder like no other, that the print I make upon this world depends the most upon my mother."

Sadie and Jason also bought me some lounge chairs and a table for the side of the pool.  We've been meaning to get some chairs ever since we moved in 3 years ago.  Sadie spilled the beans yesterday, and Jason told her she wasn't supposed to tell me because it was a surprise.  So Sadie ran over and said Surprise!  Such a stinker.

Sunday afternoon, we went over to Amy's house to celebrate Mother's Day with my sisters and Mom.  Sadie and Samantha played on the playground for a while before dinner.  I totally remembered to bring my camera but didn't take a single picture the entire time.  Thankfully, Jason took some with his phone.

I want to say a big Thank You to Jason and Sadie for helping to make my Mother's Day so special.  I also want to thank my own Mother for being such a positive influence in my life.  I am so blessed.

Hope everyone has a great week!

Happy Birthday!

This has been an eventful week!  Friday was my last day of work before the baby arrives, so I had a busy week making sure all my clients will be covered in my absence.  Jason brought Sadie to her ballet class on Saturday morning, and she stopped to take a picture on the mushrooms with Baby doll.

After ballet, we went over to Sam's to get some stuff we needed for the crawfish boil.  While we were over there, we decided to eat at BJ's Brewhouse.  Sadie had a good time at the restaurant and posing with Minnie Mouse.  We both enjoyed some fresh brewed root beer!  Yummy!

Once we got home from eating, I opened the door to find some beautiful flowers from Melinda.  We started sending each other flowers for our birthday a few years ago, and these are gorgeous.  Thanks, Mindy!

Saturday evening, we all headed down to Minute Maid Park to watch the Cardinals play the Astros.  Sadie was really well behaved and had a good time people-watching.  She also enjoyed a hot dog and a snow cone.

Unfortunately, the Cardinals ended up losing, but Jason and Sadie had fun!

Today is mine and Melinda's birthday, so we decided to have a crawfish boil at Amy's house.  Amy and Dane both have birthday's at the end of April, so we celebrated all our birthdays together.  Mark did a great job cooking the crawfish and shrimp.  Gammaw made some delicious dips for us to snack on while we waited for the main course.  Sadie loved accessorizing with Samantha's princess jewelry.  Excuse the poor picture quality, but my camera ran out of batteries so I was forced to use my phone.

We had a great time celebrating with friends and family.  Jason surprised me a beautiful necklace that I've been wanting for over a year.  It was a good day.  Melinda and I are treating ourselves to a spa day tomorrow, so I'm looking forward to that, too.

Hope everybody has a good week!

A Sprinkle for Baby Greer

My wonderful sisters were kind enough to throw me a sprinkle on Saturday afternoon.  Amy opened up her beautiful new home to host some friends and family and celebrate Baby Boy Greer.  Melinda used her creative marketing skills to make the cutest invitation and decorations for the party.  I felt very loved and now feel even more prepared for his arrival in less than a month.

My sisters did a great job of organizing the shower, and I really appreciate both of them taking time out of their busy schedules to do something sweet for me.  I love both of them so much and am so thankful they live close so that we can hang out more often.

While I was at the shower, Jason and Sadie met his Aunt Karen to pick up her gift.  She had to work during the shower, but she wanted to give us her present.  Sadie got to ride around on her horse, Jewel, during their visit.  She looks like a pro, huh?

It's hard to believe that our newest addition will be here in 26 days!  We've still got a few things to do, but are much better prepared since the shower.  Thank you again to everyone who helped us to celebrate!  Next weekend will also be a busy once since it is me and Melinda's birthday!  We're planning to have a crawfish & shrimp boil!  Yum!  Hope everyone has a great week!

Fun with Sadie

Wednesday afternoon Sadie's school had a Mom & Me Tea.  All the moms came up to school to enjoy some snacks and make a craft with their kids.  Sadie and I made a door hanger which now hangs on our back door.  Sadie enjoyed some ice cream, chocolate milk & a cookie.  Clearly, healthy snacks were not on the menu, but we had a good time.

Sadie's dance recital pictures were Saturday morning, so we got to get her all dressed up in her costume.  It was bittersweet for me since I will miss her actual recital.  Her little brother will make his grand entrance the day before.  Anyway, she looked so cute.

I wish I had taken a picture of her bun because
it had to be the world's smallest.
Poor child still doesn't have a whole lot of hair.

I'm excited because my sisters are throwing me a shower next weekend, and I'll get to see some friends that I haven't seen in a long time.  Hopefully, I'll get some of the stuff I need and can go buy the rest since the little man will be here in about a month.  Hope everybody has a great week!
